Wedding Dress Shopping Experience – Glamour Bridal

The main criticism we hear from brides-to-be who are over 40 is concerning the whole wedding dress shopping experience. Many have been disappointed by it all and the initial excitement has soon turned to tears of despair.

After receiving many emails from women over 40 who have had unfortunate experiences, we at Beautilicious 40 Bride wish to explore the wedding dress shopping experience in more detail by adding this section to the website. We will be visiting boutiques first hand (by appointment), browsing through the dresses and finding one in each shop that would suit.

Our aim is to feature Bridal Boutiques that offer a welcoming service to find a perfect dress for their special day without making them feel awkward or embarrassed.  Hopefully by doing this we can give some of our more anxious readers the confidence to walk into a boutique regardless of the fact that they are a ‘mature’ bride.

My latest Wedding Dress Shopping Experience took me to Glamour Bridal in Bolton where I was greeted by the Owner/Manager Debbie and another of the bridal stylists, Julie.  A warm welcome and a chat to see what styles I liked and didn’t like immediately put me at ease because even though I have walked into many bridal shops I still get nervous trying them on myself.

I was offered refreshments and we looked through the rails of beautiful wedding gowns together.   On this occasion I wanted a long, elegant dress that wasn’t completely strapless. Julie recommended five and off we popped into the changing room area of one of the bridal lounges

The designers available at Glamour Bridal are:-

Sincerity Plus

Glamour Prom (their own collection)

I was left in the capable hands of Julie who had me in and out of the dresses with ease all the while chatting and making me feel very comfortable. The changing area was large with a big mirror with enough space for others if you wished. A vast selection of accessories were to hand to provide the finishing touches.

Glamour also stock shoes from Paradox and Rainbow Club

The standard gowns range from sizes 8 – 18 and and they also offer an extended range of gowns for brides with curves up to and including sample size 28.

After trying on all five gowns my number one choice was ‘Gayle’  by Amanda Wyatt (pictured below)

A fabulous chiffon gown, with beautiful pleat working across the bodice, with silver lace appliqué from the hip to shoulder creating a stunning A-symmetrical strap. A full A-line skirt and lace-up fastening at the back

The Verdict – Debbie has an incredible passion for all things wedding and it truly shows in the exceptional service she provides. Glamour Bridal is all about the ‘unforgettable experience’ and Debbie and her team make sure that every single woman regardless of age has an incredible stress free time.

BIG NEWS – Glamour Bridal also launches ‘Glamorous Mums’ this month offering a collection of outfits for Mother of the Bride/Groom. This makes the experience fun for the whole bridal party – Bride, Bridesmaids and Mums – perfect!

“All our features are aimed towards our readers being Brides Over 40. (40 plus brides). Rather than calling these fabulous ladies ‘mature Brides‘ we call them ‘Beautilicious Brides’ who are marrying later in life, whether it be a first or second time wedding or even a celebration ceremony for renewing vows”
